safeREACH Blackout Detector

Early warning in the event of large-scale power outages with safeREACH Blackout Detector

Detect power failures in seconds - protect people, data and production

Blackout emergency plan for your company immediately

Sudden large-scale power failures and blackouts present companies with massive challenges - whenever manual reporting chains fail or are simply too slow.

The frequent consequences are unplanned downtime, data loss and security risks.

The safeREACH Blackout Detector gives you valuable minutes to start your blackout emergency plan immediately.

  • Time lost due to manual detectionUnmistakable real-time alarm via the safeREACH app
  • False start of emergency processesEarly warning activates your blackout plan without delay

With a clear blackout prevention system, you gain minutes that are crucial for security and business continuity.

How the Blackout Detector works

1) Voltage drop in several countries

Sensors in 2 or more countries report a voltage drop in the power grid.

2) Blackout alarm is triggered

Automatic triggering of a blackout alarm. Unmistakable and without loss of time.

3) Initiate emergency measures

Early warning means that emergency measures can be initiated immediately and greater damage can be prevented.

Description in the safeREACH app for Blackout Detector Alarm

Why early blackout warning is crucial

A power outage can be a localised, short event - or the start of a large-scale, longer-lasting blackout. The earlier a company is informed, the faster decisive measures can be initiated. Because:

  • In a real blackout, central infrastructures - e.g. telecommunications, transport, medical care - often only function to a limited extent or not at all.
  • The early warning provided by the Blackout Detector gives companies the decisive time advantage they need to initiate protective measures, shut down processes and inform employees.
  • Those who react early can reduce damage, secure business operations better and get back up and running more quickly.

The blackout in Spain and Portugal in April 2025 showed the extensive impact a blackout can have on companies and society.

Typical measures that can be initiated immediately after an early warning

  • Safe shutdown of machines and production lines to prevent damage.
  • Activation of emergency power generators to keep critical infrastructure running.
  • IT protection, e.g. controlled shutdown of servers or switching to backup systems.
  • Passing on information to employees, security services or external partners.
  • Initiation of pre-planned evacuation or security protocols.
Sensoren in ganz Europa als Basis vom safeREACH Blackout Detector

Numerous sensors throughout Europe show power failures & blackouts

A dense network of sensor points in European high- and medium-voltage grids forms the centrepiece of the safeREACH Blackout Detector.

These sensors record voltage losses in real time - regardless of the individual company location. As soon as a fault is detected, the system automatically triggers the corresponding blackout alarm for the affected region.

New blackout sensors already being planned

In addition to the existing sensors in Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo, further new sensors are already being planned. These are to be installed in France and Spain before the end of 2025.
