Alerting Software for Retail

Alarmierungssoftware für Handel und Filialunternehmen

Quickly reach the right people during threats, emergencies and disruptions - in individual stores or across multiple locations.

When retail employees need support fast

Retail stores are public-facing workplaces. Employees interact directly with customers, work across different shifts and may need to get help quickly from colleagues, store management, security or teams outside the location.

Who needs to respond depends on the situation: a threatening incident may require immediate support from security or a manager, an evacuation affects employees at the store, while a larger disruption may also involve regional management or central teams.

With safeREACH, different alerting workflows can be prepared in advance and triggered when they are needed.

Possible safeREACH use cases in retail

Protect customer-facing employees

Aggressive behavior, threats and other escalating situations can occur unexpectedly when employees work directly with the public. In these moments, they need a way to request support without unnecessarily drawing attention to the situation.

A silent duress alert can notify predefined responders discreetly. Depending on the workplace and the organization's security concept, an alert can be triggered from an application at the workstation or a dedicated alert button.

This allows employees to request help while remaining focused on the situation in front of them.

▶︎ Silent Alarm with safeREACH

Alert stores and locations selectively

Not every incident affects the entire retail organization. A medical emergency may only involve one store, while an IT outage, safety incident or other larger disruption can affect multiple locations at the same time.

With safeREACH, recipient groups and alerting scenarios can be prepared so that the appropriate store employees, store managers, regional teams, security personnel or central functions are notified depending on the situation.

This allows alerting workflows to follow the actual structure of a multi-location retail organization.

Be prepared for different incidents

Retail organizations may need to respond quickly to very different types of events.

Threat or duress situationDiscreetly request assistance and notify predefined responders
Fire or evacuationAlert affected employees and responsible teams and provide further instructions
Medical emergencyNotify first responders or other designated employees at the right location
IT or technical disruptionReach the responsible internal or external teams and involve additional functions if required

Predefined alerting scenarios mean that recipients and workflows do not have to be assembled only after an incident has already occurred.

New York Retail Worker Safety Act: Preparing for 2027

For retail employers operating in New York State, workplace violence prevention is also becoming a concrete regulatory issue.

The New York Retail Worker Safety Act applies to employers with at least 10 retail employees in New York State and requires covered employers to implement a workplace violence prevention policy and provide retail workplace violence prevention training.

Starting January 1, 2027, employers with 500 or more retail employees statewide must provide every retail employee with a silent response button that can request immediate assistance from a security officer, manager or supervisor in an emergency. The law permits an easily accessible physical device, a wearable device or a mobile phone-based button.

safeREACH can support the alerting component of a workplace safety process by helping organizations prepare how an alert is triggered, who receives it and how responders are notified.

The Act also contains requirements beyond alerting, including workplace violence prevention policies and employee training. safeREACH does not provide legal advice and does not determine whether an organization's overall implementation complies with the Act.
